Families are complex systems, and when one member is struggling, everyone feels the impact. Family therapy at Clarity Counseling addresses the patterns and dynamics that create tension, helping your family develop healthier ways of relating to one another.
When Family Therapy Helps
- Parent-child or parent-teen conflict
- Blended family adjustment challenges
- A family member dealing with mental health, addiction, or behavioral issues
- Major transitions like divorce, remarriage, or relocation
- Communication breakdowns between family members
- Grief or loss affecting the family unit
Our Approach
We use Structural Family Therapy and systemic approaches that view the family as an interconnected unit. Rather than identifying one person as "the problem," we help the whole family understand how their interactions contribute to difficulties and how small shifts in communication can create lasting change.
What Sessions Look Like
Family therapy sessions are 75 minutes and may include all family members or specific combinations depending on the issues at hand. We often work with parents separately for part of the session to address parenting strategies, then bring the family together to practice new communication skills. Our therapists are experienced with families at every stage, from young children to adult siblings navigating aging parents.
